Ship shape and Glasgow fashion

Forget Bristol, it is Glasgow which is truly in ship shape. Shipbuilding has a long and illustrious history in Glasgow and the Clyde has played a significant role in industrialising this fair city. It was influential in bringing trade to Scotland for centuries.

Ships were probably not the only things to be found steaming in the Clyde

Furthermore, lest we forget that Billy Connolly once worked in the Govan shipyards for John Brown & Company. It was clearly an entertaining place to ply your trade. Unfortunately, shipbuilding has declined massively in Glasgow and photos like the one above are all we have to left remind us of this once bustling hive of industry.
